How to unlock Bo Path of the Teal Lotus traversal abilities

As you beat bosses and meet specific NPCs, they’ll share a cup of tea with Bo that will grant him a new traversal ability. These will, in turn, allow you to reach otherwise inaccessible areas with hidden collectibles. Here’s a list of the traversal abilities and where you get them:

  • Equinox Staff: This staff allows you to Jump Reset when attacking an enemy, lantern, or projectile. It also allows you to fill your Tea Kettle when attacking.
    • Speak to Asahi in the Forest of Crimson Bamboo at the beginning of the game.
  • Bamboo Bat: Press and hold the specific button to aim battable objects at enemies and breakable barriers.
    • Rescue Shimeji in the Forest of Crimson Bamboo before entering Uzumaki Cave.
  • Lotus Dash: Press the assigned button to dash forward a short distance.
    • Defeat the Particularly Unmanageable Armakillo, obtain the Eye of the Beast, and bring it to Asahi just outside of the boss room.
  • Grappling Gun: When near a grappling object, an arrow will appear. Press the assigned button to launch Bo in that direction. You can also Grapple Slice certain enemies.
    • Find the three music sheets for Kiyoshi in Midori Woods. He will then revive Asahi, who will then grant you this ability.
  • Kabuto Wings: Press the assigned ability to slow your descent and glide in the air. You can also ride air currents.
    • Defeat Flying Kabuto Yokozuna in Megumi Mountain.
  • Tsuki Dash: The dash now has a narrow window of invulnerability, allowing you to dash through enemies and obstacles.
    • Speak to Mochi, The Black Orchid in the Kitsune Burrows.
  • Mochi Mallet: Press down and the assigned button while in the air to smash into the ground, destroying unstable ground and dealing high damage to enemies. You can also fall into tree stumps to rocket out the other end.
    • Destroy three bug nests within the bug cave for Mochi, The Black Orchid.
  • Ice Picks: You will now stick to walls and can wall jump. Press the assigned button to roll up the wall at high speed.
    • Defeat the Tengu Solo in the Ice Caverns and speak to Ushi the monkey after freeing him from ice.

All Bo Path of the Teal Lotus Daruma locations and effects

Daruma are active skills that can be cycled between at any time that require tea to use. Each Daruma has three tiers of power (called eyes) that change based on your tea kettle’s heat gauge. If you attack enemies in the air for an extended period, the heat gauge will fill and enter a boiling state, increasing the Daruma eye level by one. A base Daruma can only reach level two, though you can upgrade your Daruma by speaking with Danno in Sakura City and providing him with Awakening Ink in order to reach level three when boiling. Here’s where to find them all:

  • Chomper dashes in a straight line. Press the assigned button again to chomp an enemy. Upgraded eye levels will increase Chomper’s size, damage, and amount of chomps per cast.
    • Speak with Shimeji in Uzumaki Cave.
  • Pyro-Kun emits a stream of flame that damages nearby enemies. Upgraded eye levels will increase the range and area of effect.
    • Defeat Hashihime on Sencho Bridge.
  • Ken throws out a large shuriken on a chain. Press the assigned button to return the chain to Bo. Upgraded eye levels increases the shuriken’s size.
    • Buy from Danno in Sakura City.
  • Jingu summons orbs of Kosenjobi that will seek out nearby enemies and damage them. Eye level two increases the number of orbs while the eye level three summons a high-damaging hand instead.
    • Buy from Danno in Sakura City.
  • Toge-Chan summons thorn babies that orbit around you and damage foes. Upgraded eye levels will increase the amount of thorn babies and the speed at which they rotate.
    • Found in a chest in Midori Forest east of the starting room. Requires the Grapple Gun.
  • Mamori briefly makes you invulnerable and damages the nearest enemy. Eye level two increases the duration of protection and the third eye level deals massive damage to all nearby enemies.
    • Buy from Danno in Sakura City.
  • Yuki shoots a sekkagami projectile above you, which will explode and shoot out ice crystals if it touches an enemy or you press the assigned button. Eye level two increases the amount of sekkagami and eye level three summons a sekkagami turret that fires many projectiles.
    • Found west of the Megumi Mountain snow village. Requires the Ice Picks to reach.
  • Kaboomaru throws a large bomb that can be detonated by pressing the assigned button. Eye level two increases the blast radius and eye level three explodes with a cluster of bombs.
    • Defeat the optional boss Kitsura north of the Fox Shrine in Midori Forest.
