How do I unlock my M&T Online Banking account? ›

If you've logged in to M&T Mobile and Online Banking previously and need to unlock your account or reset your security questions, you can do that online. You can also call our automated telephone banking system at 1-800-790-9130: You will need your M&T Debit or ATM Card number and PIN, and your Social Security Number.

If a user wishes to change a mobile phone number, email, or unenroll from 2-Step Verification they must contact Nota Customer Support, at 1-800-724-1313.

If your account is frozen because of suspicious activity, contact your bank to resolve the matter. You and your banker can review account activity to determine if there is any risk of fraud. If there is none, your account should be unfrozen.

If you have been blocked or locked out then the best thing to do is to wait it out for a bit and then try it again at a later time and ensure that you are using the correct login and password and if it is still the same then you will need to contact the bank itself for this.

Make sure you have cleared temporary internet files and cookies and your browser has extensions and add-ons disabled. If needed, also try restarting your device and router, and try a wired connection.

For example, deceptive messages or lookalike sites often trick people into sharing their passwords. These password-stealing scams are common and even experts are sometimes fooled. Signing in with both a password and a second step on your phone protects against password-stealing scams.

In the login screen, click 'Forgot Username/ Login Password'. A pop-up window will appear with a dropdown menu. Select the 'Forgot My Login Password' option and click 'Next'. Provide the required details, selecting the either 'Using ATM Card Details' or 'Using Profile Password' option to reset the password.

In August 2023, it was disclosed that M&T Bank experienced a data breach that became public between May and June of the current year. The breach was attributed to a security vulnerability in the file transfer software MOVEit, which is produced by Progress Software and used by the bank.
