We feel a lot more settled and better prepared for what's ahead. There were a lot of unknowns last year at this time. Having said all that, it didn't stop us from having a great start to the season.

"We've had a solid pre-season. For the most part, everyone has contributed to that. These last sort of seven days, we've had everyone in and the level of training has gone up from the tour.

"The pleasing thing is pretty much everyone on the list is available and that will be important for us. After the international break, Europe starts and the Carabao Cup, so we'll need all our players."

  4. Why have Spurs suspended Bissouma?published at 14:00 British Summer Time 15 August

    14:00 BST 15 August

Leicester v Tottenham (Mon, 20:00 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Manager Ange Postecoglou revealed Tottenham have suspended Yves Bissouma for Monday's game at Leicester after a video of him appearing to inhale laughing gas was posted on social media.

Possession of nitrous oxide - also known as laughing gas or NOS - for recreational use has been a criminal offence in the United Kingdom since 2023 and can result in a two-year prison sentence.

Bissouma later issued an apology: "I want to apologise for these videos. This was a severe lack of judgment.

"I understand how serious this is and the health risks involved, and I also take my responsibility as a footballer and role model very seriously.”

Everton v Brighton (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Everton

Manager Sean Dyche on a more positive feeling at Everton after finishing 15th last season despite uncertainty over the club's ownership: "You get the sense that, after last season's challenges and the positiveend, I think there is more calmness and positivity.

"The reality of knowing the truth of what the situationis helps. But generally, being up and around people there is a better feeling.

"We have been trying to bring in players who fit into the club. We have workedhard collectively with the scouts to get the right payers. The only balance to that is that they don’t have much Premier League experience so it is how quick they can be effective and adapt. But I think we have adapted financially."

  6. Toffees trio ruled outpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 15 August

    13:49 BST 15 August

Everton v Brighton (Sat, 15:00 BST)

Everton boss Sean Dyche confirmed Jarrad Branthwaite, Seamus Coleman and James Garner will miss the opening game of the season through injury: "We were hoping a few would be back but they are not.

"That isunfortunate but the levels of performance and fitness through the rest of thesquad has been good. Michael Keane has trained this week and trained fine today, so as long as there is no reaction then we think he will be fit."

"Football wise you can see he has all the attributes we need. He still needs time to fit in. He's fitting in well with the group and training. We've still got a couple of training sessions to go but he's doing well. He should be [available on Monday]."

  8. 'Hopefully we can help Bissouma realise the decisions he makes impact the group'published at 13:41 British Summer Time 15 August

    13:41 BST 15 August

Leicester v Tottenham (Mon, 20:00 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou on Yves Bissouma being suspended: "[I've] been in the game for a long time. When a situation like this arises, I've tried to look at them in a couple of ways. First, there's a person, it's Biss and he's made a poor decision.

"There are still sanctions involved, and some of those are educational. The second part of that is he's a footballer, with responsibilities.

"He won't be available on Monday. We've suspended him for Monday's game. He needs to build that trust back with both me and the group. The door is open for him and hopefully we can help him realise the decisions he makes impact the group.

"'[It's down to] behaviour mate, it's that simple. It's about making better decisions. He was very apologetic to me, the club and everyone involved, but that's just part of it."

On Jarrod Bowen replacing Kurt Zouma as West Ham captain: "He is a respected player, he is a national team player, and he has the commitment with the club to become the next captain.

"We are all going to help him. He is happy to level up his responsibility because as captain, he doesn’t have any privilege, but he has a big responsibility and everyone will help him with his work."

    Shamoon Hafez
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Another Premier League campaign is about to begin and Everton manager Sean Dyche is due to face the cameras and reporters from 13:30 (BST).

The Toffees begin their final season at Goodison Park by hosting Brighton, who have the top-flight's youngest ever manager Fabian Hurzeler taking charge for the first time.

A relative unknown in England, how much does Dyche know about him? Will the 31-year-old German spring any surprises?

In this news conference, the Blues boss is also likely to field questions around the takeover uncertainty after the Friedkin Group pulled out of talks, and on Dominic Calvert-Lewin's future, with the striker entering the final 12 months of his deal and yet to sign a new contract.

Meanwhile, what will Dyche have to say about how summer signings such as Iliman Ndiaye, Jesper Lindstrom, Tim Ireogbunam and Jake O'Brien are settling in? How many of those will feature at the weekend?

    Nick Mash*ter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Wolves have rejected Genoa's loan bid for striker Fabio Silva.

The Serie A club's offer included an option to buy but it was turned down, although Wolves are keen to sell the Portuguese forward.

Silva has failed to make an impact since moving for a then-record deal worth £35m from Porto in 2020 and has scored just five goals in 72 appearances.

The 22-year-old has spent time on loan at Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven and Rangers over the last two seasons. Last season at Ibrox he scored six goals from 25 appearances.

  18. 'Expectation of improvement' on Nuno and Forestpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 15 August

    12:58 BST 15 August

    Nott'm Forest v Bournemouth (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Nick Mash*ter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Nuno Espirito Santo will face the media on Thursday ahead of Saturday's Premier League opener with Bournemouth at the City Ground.

The former Wolves boss avoided serious scrutiny last season, getting the job done in terms of survival, but it was hardly straightforward.

The second half of last term appeared chaotic off the pitch; a four-point deduction - and subsequent failed appeal - after a profit and sustainability breach and a public row over VAR and refereeing decisions took the spotlight off results and performances.

Forest won just four of their final 18 league games and there is an argument Nuno was fortunate the focus was elsewhere, otherwise there would have been more scrutiny on him.

As Nuno enters his first full season at the City Ground, there will an expectation of improvement. But, with the transfer window open, it is naturally going to dominate the agenda on Thursday.

Midfielder Elliot Anderson from Newcastle and defender Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina are the biggest summer arrivals to date. That Morgan Gibbs-White and Murillo are still in the building ahead of the season remains an obvious positive.

Away from transfers, Forest could do with some calm waters to start the season.

  19. Spurs happy and settled but need to set ambitious tonepublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 15 August

    12:55 BST 15 August

Leicester City v Tottenham (Mon, 20:00 BST)

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Ange Postecoglou is likely to project a happy, calm but hungry presence in his first news conference ahead of the Premier League season.

The 58-year-old manager is pleased with how pre-season has gone as his second Asian tour was an upgrade on his first season.

He also has few injuries and just welcomed the marquee signing of striker Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth for £65m.

Of course, he will want even more signings before deadline day on 30 August but Spurs feel a settled and happy camp.

The age-old problem with Spurs is not about stability but having that aggression to take the next step and win a trophy.

Postecoglou has not shied away from being ambitious and now, in his second season in charge, he will want to push for that elusive piece of silverware.
